Madrid has a date with history today, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Standing in front of them is Juventus, the old lady of Turin! Victory for Madrid, they would become the first team to retain the Champions League since 1980, after Nottingham Forest won it back to back. On the hand, a victory for Juventus would see them lift the trophy for the first time in over two decades, after last winning it in 1996.

Cristiano Ronaldo came into his normal self towards the end of the season and marked this with a back to back hat-tricks against Bayern Munich and neighbours Atletico Madrid, Zinedine Zidane will be hoping Ronaldo hit similar level to make him the first manager to achieve such fit.

Following their domestic league triumph, the team have had enough time to cool off and re-energize, so is Juventus. The old lady has dominated Serie A since 2011/12 season, winning the last 6 league titles but have had difficult time in Europe, hence they will be hoping to win it this year, at this very final in Cardiff, however against a determined opponent and an informed Ronaldo, this is not going to be an easy task for either team!

Both teams are balanced and have experienced players, hence it will be a tight call between the two. The referees will be busy, sorting out petulant and some deceitful tactics while ensuring no mistake of theirs would spoil a special night of football.

Some players have a personal mission to accomplish.

Gianluigi Buffon, for a player of his calibre and longevity in the game, he has not won the Champions League medal before, he has lost in two finals and won everything else but this, surely, with his level of hunger for success, he must be aiming to win the trophy this time!

Gonzalo Higuaín was sold by Madrid to Napoli, while you may argue with the eye-watering transfer fee paid by Juventus for his services, you cannot argue with his record. Certainly, playing in the Champions League final, against your old club will provide an added booster to your already good level of ability, Gonzalo?

Cristiano! everything that can be said has been said about Ronaldo, his level of hunger for success is second to none. Ronaldo, it seems, it doesn’t matter how many times he has won a particular award, anytime he is presented with the opportunity, he grabbed it as if he has never won it! Without a doubt, he will be going into this final with the same level of spirit.

Either way, the pendulum swings tonight, the football can be assured of a good night of football!

Congratulations to the winner in advance! to us neutrals, we shall put our feet up and enjoy!
