Arsenal needs rebuilding, one of the key areas Arsene Wenger will be looking at will be the attack.
The team heavily relied on Alexis Sanchez last season, but now, there are doubts over his future at Arsenal, failure to qualify for the Champions League and a reported £350/wk astronomical demands by the player suggests it will be difficult to hold on to Sanchez.
Bayern Munich is circling with £350k/week offer, and Alexis is not short of suitors from both Premiership and Europe, It is, therefore, our expectation that Arsene will be in the market for some attacking talent or a marque signing to placate the Arsenal faithful if he should sell Sanchez.
Thus, Alexandre Lacazette, a long-term Arsenal target may be on the card.
It was reported that Lacazette preferred a move to Atletico Madrid, but a transfer ban on Atletico and the contract extension of Antoine Griezeman all but makes the materialisation of that move unlikely at this moment.
This development firmly put Arsenal as the favourite to sign the £60m rated strikers.
There is a twist here, Telegraphy is now reporting that Lyon would prefer Olivier Giroud as part of the deal that would see Lacazette switch to the Emirate Stadium.
Giroud on his part may be open to a move away from the Emirate judging by the level of his appearances last season. Giroud played 29 games last season but 18 of them as a substitute, it will not be surprising if he jumps at the offer to return to France.
The 30-year-old striker, who scored 12 goals last season, his lowest return since the 2012/13 season is also wanted by West Ham and so not short of suitors himself.
In any case, a move to Lyon or West Ham will likely guarantee a regular first team action for him, a better proposition to his current situation at Arsenal.
