The deal was put off following the withdrawal of the offer to buy Thomas Lamar by Arsenal.

Arsenal’s bid of £95m for Lamar was accepted and bizarrely withdrawn just few hours later.

Although there were reports that it is Lemar that was reluctant to come to Arsenal and would rather prefer Liverpool.

Wenger had previously stated that Alexis would only be sold if another marque replacement could be found, the failure to secure any such signing effectively put a nail on the move, and so Alexis Sanchez is staying at Arsenal

The implication is that Alexis Sanchez will be able to walk away free on a Bosnian rule next summer except Wenger is able to tie him down to a new contract in the course of the season.
