January transfer window is fast approaching, Arsenal players are being linked with a move away from the club, particularly the usual suspects!
These are the latest rumours about the club and players.
PSG ARE AHEAD OF MANCHESTER CITY FOR ALEXIS SANCHEZ:
Alexis Sanchez transfer saga rumbles on, no day passes without a new development on his future, every story emerging indicates that his days are numbered at Arsenal.
With less than a season to go on his contract, it is inevitable that many clubs will be after his signature.
Manchester City got really close to signing him in the summer with a £60m bid but Arsenal kept him due to lack of replacement, the expectation is that City is coming back for him in January. Well, that permutation is no longer as straightforward, PSG is now reported to be the favourite to sign Sanchez.
PSG is looking to form a lethal attacking trio with Neymar and Mbappe, the current third man Cavani is not getting on with Neymar and so Sanchez is seen as the last piece of that jigsaw.
Sanchez will be free to enter into a pre-contract agreement with any European club in January but English club will have to wait till August to be able to enter a negotiation with him.
MESUT OZIL REFUSED A NEW CONTRACT AND DESIRE A MOVE TO MANCHESTER UNITED:
Like his teammate Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil contract is running down and ends in the summer of 2018.
The news is that Ozil has refused a contract extension or demanding wage in the region of £350k per week to sign a new one.
Ozil was sold to Arsenal from Madrid by Carlo Ancelotti for £42.5m in 2013 in a 5-year deal, Ancelotti said then that “there was no doubting Ozil’s skill which he admitted was better than Angel Di-maria but he (Ozil) lacks the character demanded by Real Madrid”.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is apparently an admirer of the player and his looking to get him on a free in the summer.
If Ozil goes to United on Bosman rule, then United will be able to afford wages of between £350 to £400k per week because there won’t be an initial huge sign on fee overlay.
WENGER: ARSENAL NOT IN A HURRY TO ENTER CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH RAMSAY AND WELBECK:
Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsay contracts both expire in summer 2019.
Wenger said there will be more and more players running down their contracts because of inflation and high asking prices on players.
Wenger in another interview believes that what happened this summer with respect to such high asking prices, that we have reached a tipping point.
Aaron Ramsay and Danny Welbeck have been in fine form this term. Ramsay put in a convincing display in the match against Chelsea while Welbeck is currently Arsenal top scorer with 3 goals
Arsenal reluctant to enter into a concrete discussion with Aaron Ramsay and Danny Welbeck means Arsenal may be faced with the same situation as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
WENGER: I REGRET SELLING GIBBS MORE THAN I DO CHAMBERLAIN:
Manager Arsene Wenger expressed his regrets at selling left-back Gibbs.
Arsenal sold Gibbs to West Brom in the summer for £5m after a deal to Watford fell through and Chamberlain to Liverpool for £40m but Wenger spoke in a more glowing term about Gibbs compared to Chamberlain.
“Overall it’s true that with Gibbs (it hurt) more than Chamberlain because he had been educated at Arsenal from the age of 10.
When he arrived he was a left-winger. I transformed him into a full-back because he was not necessarily rated as a guy who would make it as a left winger but I saw something in him that was very intelligent, with pace, that made me feel he could make it as a left-back” Arsene Wenger
EVERTON COMING BACK WITH AN IMPROVED OFFER FOR OLIVIER GIROUD:
Ronald Koeman is still looking for a perfect top striker and he sees that in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
During the transfer window, Olivier Giroud seems exit bound out of the Emirate, but technicalities surrounding negotiation and time got in the way and the proposed £25m deal fell through.
The news now is that Everton are even more keen to buy Giroud, seeing their poor performances particularly in front of goal.
An offer in the region of £40M is now reported to be prepared for the centre-forward.
There is a World cup in 2018, although Giroud is still a regular in the French National team, he will be looking to play a regular club football to cement his place in the national team heading to Russia.
