Inter Milan President confirmed interest in Mesut Ozil

Inter Milan president Eric Thohir has confirmed the club’s interest in Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil and may be willing to wait till the summer as the club remains skeptical about buying Ozil in January when they can get him on a free in July.

Mesut Ozil is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal and has refused to signed a new contract so far, differences in Arsenal’s offer and the player’s demand is reported to be the cause of the lull in his negotiations to renew his contract with Arsenal.

In A Bosman rule, Ozil can start negotiating pre-contracts with clubs outside England from January next year.

Arsenal stands to lose out financially if Ozil did not renew his contract and he decides to run it down and walk away.

Mesut Ozil’s new contract

Although the player remain a favourite of the manager, he however starts the last match against West Brom on the bench, the first time such will happen when he is fit to play, it is unclear whether Wenger did that to slowly introduce him back to the team or if Wenger is attempting to reduce dependency on the player.

Like Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere are also on the final leg of their current contract.

While Alexis had a lot of interests during the summer, activities were slow for Ozil and Wilshere, but now looks like Inter Milan definitely have their eyes on Ozil.

The club’s president was quoted by MIRROR  as saying

“He [Ozil] is definitely one of those players we are looking at,”

“But the last January signings of Podolski and Shaqiri prove that winter signings can fail to live up to expectations,”
