Jack Wilshere reacts to his recent good form and assesses his prospect in the squad going forward.
Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere is playing himself back into Arsene Wenger team gradually with an emphatic display against Bate Borisov that won him the Man of the Match.
Wilshere assesses his current situation in an interview with the club website and has the following to say:
“You are always playing for your future but I am happy to be back, to feel part of the squad,” Wilshere said when quizzed on his long-term plans.
I am fit and healthy and getting back to my best and when the time comes to sit down and talk or not we will see.
Do I see myself staying? Of course I do. I love this club. They have been good to me over the years, I have a great relationship with the boss.
He [Arsene Wenger] has played me since I was 17. He has put his trust in me since then. We have a great understanding and of course I want to stay.”
His Arsenal career has been blighted by series of long-term injuries, but he is the type of players Wenger like in his team if he can be fit consistently.
Arsenal face Brighton on Sunday 1st, Ozil is out with Injury, this provides Wilshere with an opportunity to start is first premier league game of the season.
INTER MILAN CONFIRMED INTEREST IN OZIL
Inter Milan president Eric Thohir has confirmed the club’s interest in Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil and may be willing to wait till the summer as the club remains sceptical about buying Ozil in January when they can get him on a free in July.
Mesut Ozil is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal and has refused to sign a new contract so far, differences in Arsenal’s offer and the player’s demand is reported to be the cause of the lull in his negotiations to renew his contract with Arsenal.
In A Bosman rule, Ozil can start negotiating pre-contracts with clubs outside England from January next year.
Arsenal stands to lose out financially if Ozil did not renew his contract and he decides to run it down and walks away.
Although the player remains a favourite of the manager, he, however, starts the last match against West Brom on the bench, the first time such will happen when he is fit to play, it is unclear whether Wenger did that to slowly introduce him back to the team or if Wenger is attempting to reduce dependency on the player.
Like Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere are also on the final leg of their current contract.
While Alexis had a lot of interests during the summer, activities were slow for Ozil and Wilshere, but now looks like Inter Milan definitely have their eyes on Ozil.
The club’s president was quoted by MIRROR as saying
“He [Ozil] is definitely one of those players we are looking at,”
“But the last January signings of Podolski and Shaqiri prove that winter signings can fail to live up to expectations,”
