Arsenal is planning a major January clear-out, and among the expected casualties is Theo Walcott.
Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil no doubt will become subjects of intense speculation again in the winter transfer window and Arsenal may be looking to make a technical decision of moving them on to recoup some money instead of letting them off for free in July.
While there might be little appetite to hold on to Mesut Ozil who may find it easier to get out of the club if he is bent on moving, Sanchez will be another bone of contention, as Arsenal will grapple with the decision to sell to an European club, sell to Man City or hold on till the very last minute of his contract.
In any case, the transfer window is bound to be an interesting one for Arsenal.
While the players are on international duties this week, speculations on their futures have not stopped and so here we have summarized what has been rumored about Arsenal and their players so far.
SOUTHAMPTON JOINS WALCOTT RACE:
Former club Southampton has joined West Ham, Everton and Inter Milan in wanting to sign Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.
Theo walcott’s Arsenal career seems to have grind to a speedy halt due to limited chances in the team and the situation does not look to be improving anytime soon.
His current £110k a week contract expires in 18 months from now.
Arsenal signed Walcott as a teenager in 2006 for £12.5m from Southampton, making 388 appearances in total so far for the club and scoring 107 in all competitions.
A January move away from the Emirate for Walcott seems to be in the best interest of the player and the club.
Playing a regular club football and getting his career back on track will improve his chances of being included in the England National team heading to Russia 2018.
OZIL ATTRACTS INTEREST FROM BARCELONA:
Barcelona has expressed interest in signing Arsenal’s playmaker Mesut Ozil.
Ozil’s contract ends in July and his free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any European clubs in January ahead of a free transfer in July.
Ozil has expressed interest in staying in England and may still agree an extension with Arsenal as he just bought a new house which he showed off on his Instagram page.
Manchester United is interested but are yet to make a concrete approach, Inter Milan is looking to seize the January window to snatch him from under the nose of Joe Mourinho, but Barcelona’s need for a playmaker to replace Andres Iniesta on a long term basis has switched their attention to Ozil following their failure to price Philip Coutinho away from Liverpool.
Ozil is currently injured with Knee inflammation and did not feature in the German team that defeated Northern Ireland 1-3, instead stayed behind in London Colney to continue his rehabilitation.
PSG STILL ON SANCHEZ HUNT:
PSG is sill very much in the hunt for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, however their decision to wait till the end of the season may back fire.
PSG is looking to offload Edison Cavani following the bust-up with Neymar.
The pair have since settled and played down their scuffle in different interviews but the club is looking for a long term solution for the pair, which inevitably it is to move Cavani on.
The queue of clubs wanting to buy Sanchez may not be willing to risk waiting till season end to make their move.
Man City failed a last minute opportunity to sign Sanchez in the Summer and will be returning for him in January.
Sanchez has looked out of place since the beginning of the season but he looks like he is finding his form of late with series of fine displays, not least that scintillating back heel assist and the overall hard work.
FORMER CHELSEA DEFENDER RECOMMEND ARSENAL TO LUCAS MOURA:
Lucas Moura’s place in the PSG starting line up has become very limited this season following the arrival of Mbappe and Neymar.
The former Sao Paolo striker, whose transfer fee was reported to be in the region of £35m in 2012 and has played 147 games scoring 32 goals has apparently been contacted by Arsenal, according to Alex.
He was quoted as saying:
“I would like to see him at Arsenal, they play cleaner football, more technical.
He had contacts, I believe. That would be a good option for him this winter”
If that statement is anything to go by, Alex would like to see Lucas Moura at Arsenal this winter, referring to January transfer window.
