ARSENAL HAVE IDENTIFIED ANOTHER MEXICAN WONDERKID TO REPLACE SANCHEZ, MAN U RESPONDS TO ARSENAL’S MARTIAL BID & NEWS ABOUT EX-STAR COMING BACK IN A MAJOR ROLE, OLIVIER GIROUD, RAFINHA & ARDA TURAN.
ARSENAL BRING IN EX-STAR AS THE DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL:
A seismic change in Arsenal is afoot as the club agreed on a deal to bring in ex-star MARC OVERMARS as the director of football next year.
Arsene Wenger has always objected to the appointment of a director of football but with less than two years left on his new contract, which will be one year by the time Overmars resume, Arsenal Football Club has effectively kickstarted post-Wenger Arsenal era.
Wenger historical objection to the appointment of a director of football comes down to power and “say” on transfer policies.
Manager Arsene Wenger currently has the last say on who the club signs and as far as determining the signing-on-fees and contract details, a role Wenger has played since the departure of vice-chairman David Dein, it is believed that with an appointment of a director of football, Wenger will be relieved of this duty to face team management, a change he does not want.
An agreement with Overmars is an indication that Wenger has shifted ground considerably, which in turn may indicate his readiness to end his Arsenal’s managerial stint at the end of his current contract.
Overmars is currently the director of football at Ajax, a position he has held since 2012, he had 100 league appearances for Arsenal, scoring 25 goals with 19 assists between 1997 and 2000 before moving to Barcelona.
OLIVIER GIROUD CONFIRMED ARSENAL EXIT TALK:
Giroud again confirmed he almost left the club in the summer for another English Premier League Club.
Speaking to CANAL+ Giroud insists he made the right decision to stay at Arsenal, despite seeing his playing time shunted at the club this season with Wenger preferring his compatriot, Arsenal record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
Ronald Koeman was openly linked to Giroud in the summer with a bid between £20m and £25m being on the table, and it is reported that he is ready to up the bid in January to the region of £40m.
ARSENAL MONITORING PSV’S MEXICAN SENSATION:
Arsenal is closely monitoring PSV new boy, the Mexican forward HIRVING LOZANO.
Lozano previously played in the Mexican league, appearing 149 times and scoring 43 goals for Pachuca before moving to the Eredivise league with PSV, he has since scored 6 goals in 6 appearances, netting in his first 3 games, a record for PSV.
It is reported that a £20m bid will be enough to tempt PSV to the negotiating table but the player is on record to state his preference for Manchester United, having declared his admiration for Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
If Arsenal is successful in bringing HIRVING LOZANO, he may be a natural replacement for fellow countryman Alexis Sanchez.
UNITED REJECTS ARSENAL’S MARTIAL BID:
Reports in EXPRESS LIVE TRANSFER PAGE claimed that Arsenal has tabled a bid for Manchester United Anthony Martial, a deal they want to be done by January but that United have swiftly rejected it.
The credibility of this claim is really shaky, seeing that the transfer window is not open yet, in fact, we are still some three months away, and so no official negotiations can take place at the moment.
Clubs do have unofficial over-the-dinner discussion, but Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho are not the best of mates that would engage in such friendly negotiations,
Anthony Martial scored 17 goals in his first season under Luis Van Gaal but dropped in his form and confidence in Mourinho first season seen him scored just 8 goals, he has since improved vastly this season.
RAFINHA & ARDA TURAN BARCELONA SITUATION:
Arsenal and Barcelona have a long history of doing transfer business, think Henry, Overmars, Fabregas, Hleb and Song, so it seems Barcelona is a natural abode for Arsenal key players.
As such, the news of player moving between the two clubs always carry with it some degree of high possibilities.
This time, it concerns long-term Arsene Wenger target, Arda Turan.
Arda Turan was linked in a failed £30m move in the summer, he also failed in a bid to Galatasaray, but his fortune at Barcelona has not improved and it is now been reported to be one of the players on the chopping list at Barcelona this January.
Will Wenger move in for Turan in January?
Similar situation to Brazilian 24-year-old Rafinha who is currently nursing a knee injury but is expected to return in December.
Rafinha does not seem to feature in manager Ernesto Valverde plan and it is reported he wants out to find a regular playing time.
Rafinha is Arsene Wenger type of player, considering Mesut Ozil situation, Will Wenger again look to Barcelona for business?
