Arsenal plotting a move for a former player as a replacement for Ozil and are confident of a January deal, while Ozil makes another demand as a precondition to signing a new contract at Arsenal.
The January transfer window is fast approaching and Arsenal football club will no doubt be a busy club, with many pending issues to be resolved, including contracts of some of their key players like Sanchez, Ozil and Jack Wilshere.
The club needs to make a definitive decision on these contracts otherwise the aforementioned players will completely run their contracts down and move for free come July 2018, so unsurprisingly there is nearly round the clock news about these players.
In the news today is Mesut Ozil, the sun is reporting that the Arsenal midfielder, who has been linked to a free July move to Manchester United is demanding the number 10 Jersey as a condition to signing a new contract.
Jack Wilshere is currently wearing that jersey, he is also out of contract in the summer, however, Wenger is hoping the player remain fit before offering a new contract, a decision that will also be made during the January transfer window, thus if Wilshere is offered a new contract and the report of Ozil demanding his Jersey number is correct, the pair are set on a collision course with the club caught in the middle.
Such a prospect may not happen anyway as if the Sun report is anything to go by, Arsenal is actively plotting Ozil’s exit in January to avoid him moving for free in July.
On the other hand, Arsenal is chasing Ozil replacement and their former player they sold 5 years ago for less than half a million is a £10m target for Arsenal, this is according to METRO
Besiktas’s Oguzhan Ozyakup who has played 195 games, provided 44 assists and scoring 27 times is the man Arsenal wants to replace Ozil.
With a January move imminent for Ozil, and no prospect of signing a new contract, there is credence to the news that the club is in the market for another playmaker.
Although Arsenal still have Jack Wilshere, who, as mentioned earlier is also coming to the end of his contract, his situation is slightly different from Ozil’s, Wilshere new contract is only dependent on his fitness, and Wenger said last week that Ozil’s presence in the club is affecting Wilshere’s game time, so putting both together, it can be reason that Wilshere will be expected to slot into Ozil’s role, so the story of the club in the market for a playmaker may be Wenger looking for insurance policy, to make sure when Ozil leaves and Wilshere is unfit or failed to land a new contract, the club is adequately covered in that department.
